In the first ABA League semi-final game, Crvena Zvezda is hosting Partizan in the Aleksandar Nikolić Hall (also known as Pionir), the home of both basketball clubs but now it will all be covered in The Red-Whites colours. Crvena Zvezda Basketball Club (Košarkaški klub Crvena zvezda, KK Crvena zvezda, Red Star Basketball Club, Crveno-beli, The Red-Whites, Zvezda, The Star) won against Partizan (Crno-Beli, The Black-Whites) 70 – 68 (+2) in the ABA League Round 20 and most likely announced another matches between these two rivals in the semi-finals. In this season first Belgrade derby, Crvena Zvezda won 71 – 77 against Partizan in an “away” game of the ABA league. The Crowd in the “Aleksandr Nikolic” Sports Hall was able to see two different halfs. The first one belonged to Partizan, and the second one, to Red and Whites (Crvena Zvezda, Crveno-beli). The Home team only played 20 minutes on a competitive level, and that wasn’t enough to win against the best team in the regional league. The hero of the match was the Greek player Stratos Perperoglou, with 25 points, while Joe Ragland added 19. Muhammad Faye scored 11 for the guests. The opening game of the Round 9 in the ABA League is the eternal derby between Partizan (the Black and Whites, Crno-Beli) and Crvena Zvezda (the Red and Whites, Crveno-beli) in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall (aka Pionir). Both teams are playing in the EuroCup this season, and both teams lost in the previous round of the European club competition. A Fantastic first half gave the Black and Whites a win over the Croatian club and with this win the Serbian club started the 2018 – 2019 season just in the way they desired: with a victory on the road. After beating Cedevita (68 – 79) in the semi-finals of the ABA League Supercup, Crvena Zvezda won the first trophy in the season by winning 75 – 89 against Budućnost. In the First semi-finals Budućnost was facing another Serbian team, Partizan, and after the overtime celebrated with a score of 87 – 90. But, the only EuroLegaue team in the regional league (Budućnost) didn’t have the strength to celebrate against the excellent Red and Whites (Crvena Zvezda). The First half decided the winner of the match because after 20 minutes Milan Tomić’s squad was leading by 25 (57 – 32). In the second day of the ABA League Super Cup, Cedevita (a Croatian team) was better than Zadar (a team from Croatia) with a score of 85 – 77, while Crvena Zvezda (a squad from Serbia) won 86 – 60 against Olimpija (a Slovenian squad). So, after Partizan (a Sebian squad) – Budućnost (a Montenegrin team), the second semi-finalists are Cedevita (from Zagreb) and Red and Whites (from Belgrade, Serbia). Cedevita have successfully started their 2018-2019 season by beating Zadar in the 2018 ABA League Quarterfinals. Although they haven’t really presented their best performance, the Orange squad can be quite satisfied with the way they looked in their 1st official game. With no less than 8 new players in the team, the team from Zagreb showed some great teamwork, so their fans can definitely be excited about the new season.
