In the opening round of the season in the ABA League, Partizan won 84 – 87 against Cedevita on the road, in the “Dom sportova” Sports Hall, Zagreb.
A Fantastic first half gave the Black and Whites a win over the Croatian club and with this win the Serbian club started the 2018 – 2019 season just in the way they desired: with a victory on the road. This is the only second win as visitors against Cedevita in the entire history of the regional league.
By the half time Partizan were leading up by 21 points, but in the second part of the game, the home team fight back and about 2 minutes before the end of the match they cut the deficit to only one point. However, Rade Zagorac (SF) scored the key three point shot and decided the winner in the “Dom sportova”.
Vanja Marinković (SG) had an amazing scoring night. The Partizan young gun scored 25 points, adding 4 assists and one rebound to his statistics. Đorđe Gagić (C) added 13 points and 8 rebounds, Zagorac scored 12 (7 rebounds, 4 assists) and Jock Landale (C) ended the match with 11.
In Cedevita, two players scored 19 points each one: James Bell (F) and Justin Cobbs (SG). Cobbs also had 5 assists. There was only one more player who had double digit points for the hosts: the Brazilian shooting guard Victor Benite, who finished the game with 11 points.
The Previous day, the first one of the new season, another Serbian club, Crvena Zvezda, won against Cibona (a Croatian team) in Belgrade with a score of 78 – 68.
