In the Round 7 of the ABA League, Partizan won 86 – 67 against Cibona in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall (aka Pionir). With this win the Black and Whites have 4 victories and 3 losses, while the team from Zagreb had one victory less and one loss more. The Head coach of the Serbian national team, Aleksandar Đorđević, announced the national selection that will compete in the September window of the European Qualifiers 2017-2019 games for the FIBA Basketball World Cup China 2019. Despite the fact that Boban Marjanović (Center, C), Miloš Teodosić (Point guard – Shooting guard, PG – SG) and Nikola Jokić (C) won’t play for the national team, the Serbian squad is ready for the new challenges. The First two mentioned players won’t play due the decision of their club, Los Angeles Clippers, and Jokić decided not to play due to unknown reasons. The head coach of the Serbian national team, Aleksandar Đorđević, announced the preliminary squad for the fourth qualification window for the World Cup 2019 in China and 24 names are on the list. The Serbian men team will play against Greece (September 13th) and Estonia (September 16th) in this window. The match against Greece will be played in Iraklion (Crete) and the one against Estonia, in Belgrade. Among the 24 players there are players from EuroLeague teams and from NBA teams, so if they accept the invitation, it will be a great opportunity for basketball lovers to see the best Serbian players on the court. Zalgiris is third in Europe In the game for the third place at the EuroLeague Final Four, Zalgiris won 77 – 79 against CSKA. The game started with good play from both teams, and in the first half it looked like it would be one point game till the end. But the third quarter was excellent for Zalgiris that made 22 points difference before the last part of the game. The capital of Serbia is hosting the EuroLeague Final 4 Tournament and the best clubs in Europe are now in Belgrade. The opening press conference was held on the courts within the walls of Kalemegdan Fortress where the representatives from the four European clubs (CSKA, Fenerbahce, Madrid and Žalgiris) were talking about the last four games in the championship to come. While the four EuroLeague Final Four 2018 teams (CSKA, Madrid, Žalgiris and Fenerbahce) are preparing for the Final 4 in Belgrade, the fans were voting for their favourite players in the season 2017-2018. It was and still is an interesting season, so there were a lot of great moments in the league. An interesting fact is that a lot of players had their best season yet, and for some of them, they are able to show more in Belgrade. Every the fan who is following the EuroLeague has one or more favourite players no matter if they will be the best or not. Choosing the favourite ones is a subjective opinion not just connected with basketball knowledge, but with what the person likes to see during the game. Budućnost Voli won 77 – 73 against Crvena Zvezda Mts in the fourth and final game, and for the first time in the club history won the title of the ABA League. So, in the next season, if everything goes as planned, the team from Podgorica will play the EuroLeague. The great season in the regional league was finished in the best possible way for the Montenegrin team, and in total they won 5 and lost only 1 game against the Red and Whites. This time, like it was in the third game, in a dramatic finish players from Budućnost were more focused and at the end they deserved this victory and title. Before the last game, it was tense off the court because the president of Crvena Zvezda Nebojiša Čović announced that his team won’t participate in the fourth game due to, as he said, bad treatment by referees.
