After the short break in the ABA League due to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers, Crvena Zvezda is hosting Partizan in the derby of the round. In the Round 20 of the regional league, the Red and Whites are hosting the “Eternal Derby” and, in front of their own crowd, will try to revenge for losing the first trophy in the season. They lost in the Final, in Niš, in the Radivoj Korac Cup against Partizan. The Black and Whites won their first trophy thanks to Jock Landale who made free point shots after the fault made by Billy Baron. That was the 7th trophy and the second in a raw for Partizan in the Cup. Now, in the two matches these teams face each other, both squads won in one. In the Round 7 of the ABA League, Partizan managed to score their 4th victory by beating Cibona with a result of 86 – 67. After the game, Marko Ljubičić (Cibona PG from Serbia), Amar Gegić (PG – SG) and Aleksej Nikolić (PG), from Partizan, were sharing their impressions after the regional league classic. Ljubičić mentioned that they were expecting a tough game and they knew that it is not easy to win against the Black and Whites in “Pionir” (aka “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall). “What to say. We knew what we were facing, we knew the atmosphere here in Pionir but despite it all we had an excellent game opening. In one moment Partizan didn’t know what to do at all, but again with the help of their crowd and with some opened shots we allowed they got back in the match. When they came back, we knew it

In the Round 7 of the ABA League, Partizan won 86 – 67 against Cibona in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall (aka Pionir). With this win the Black and Whites have 4 victories and 3 losses, while the team from Zagreb had one victory less and one loss more. The Crowd in Pionir was able to see almost everything on the court. First of all, the guests were leading 0 – 12, and after that, 8 – 23. An Amazing defense at the end of the first and at the beginning of the second quarter helped the home team to made a 25 – 0 series and lead by 10. Again, Cibona got back in the game in the third quarter, but after the 50 – 51 for the guests, Trinchieri’s squad took everything in their own hands. Partizan will play another regional league classic (against Cibona) in “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall in the Round 7 of the ABA League. The Croatian team, same as the Black and Whites, have 3 wins and 3 losses and both teams are hungry for another victory. The Home team will have the crowd by their side and, as it is well-known, the fans are always the sixth player. “Again, we need Pionir (also known as “Aleksandar Nikolić” Hall) to be sold-out. We are very young and we need help. We are working hard every day and that hard work needs to be put in action, and it is always easier with support. It will be a tough game, they are experienced and we are not. And if we will play their kind of a game, we won’t be on the right track. If we create our play we will have more

In the round 6 of the ABA League, Partizan NIS won 74 – 81 against Mega in the Sports Hall Pinki in Sremska Mitrovica (a town in Serbia). Until this round, Dejan Milojević’s squad was unstoppable but the Black and Whites, after changing their coach, had one motive more to win: all players wanted to show the new head coach, Andrea Trinchieri, that he could count on them. The First quarter of the game was the crucial one, when Partizan made 9 point difference against the home team and that quarter finished with a score of 15 – 24 for the guests. In the second and third quarters, the team from Belgrade was better than their colleges in Mega. Only in the last quarter of the match, the home team was better (19 – 12 was the result of the fourth quarter), but that wasn’t enough for winning their 6th

It was a really sad night in the Štark Arena not only because Partizan lost 85 – 95 against Zadar. After the game, now already ex head coach, Nenad Čanak had a heartbreaking press conference. Čanak announced that he was leaving Partizan because, in his opinion, the team deserve better. It was a brave and honourable move. Everyone could see how much the coach love his club because of his unselfish sacrifice. “I said goodbye to players”, was the first thing Čanak said at the press conference after the fifth consecutive loss. “This team don’t show their best play, and I gave my best, my knowledge, energy but that wasn’t enough and something that Partizan needs in this moment. It was my fault we lost a home game against a team that isn’t better than us. And this is the best move, because the team needs new energy, shock therapy.

In the opening round of the season in the ABA League, Partizan won 84 – 87 against Cedevita on the road, in the “Dom sportova” Sports Hall, Zagreb. A Fantastic first half gave the Black and Whites a win over the Croatian club and with this win the Serbian club started the 2018 – 2019 season just in the way they desired: with a victory on the road. This is the only second win as visitors against Cedevita in the entire history of the regional league. By the half time Partizan were leading up by 21 points, but in the second part of the game, the home team fight back and about 2 minutes before the end of the match they cut the deficit to only one point. After beating Cedevita (68 – 79) in the semi-finals of the ABA League Supercup, Crvena Zvezda won the first trophy in the season by winning 75 – 89 against Budućnost. In the First semi-finals Budućnost was facing another Serbian team, Partizan, and after the overtime celebrated with a score of 87 – 90. But, the only EuroLegaue team in the regional league (Budućnost) didn’t have the strength to celebrate against the excellent Red and Whites (Crvena Zvezda). The First half decided the winner of the match because after 20 minutes Milan Tomić’s squad was leading by 25 (57 – 32). The Montenegrin team took control of the game in the second half, but the team didn’t have the strength to score the victory in Laktaši (Republika Srpska, part of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The Red and Whites played excellent during the finals and manage to get even for the lost in

Although they haven’t really presented their best performance, the Orange squad can be quite satisfied with the way they looked in their 1st official game. With no less than 8 new players in the team, the team from Zagreb showed some great teamwork, so their fans can definitely be excited about the new season.
