In the first two quarter-final games of the ABA League Super Cup, Partizan (Serbian club) won against Mornar (Montenegrin club) 77 – 91, while Budućnost (club from Montenegro) was better than Igokea (Club from the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina), with a score of 90 – 86.

The second semi-finalists will be known after the games between Cedevita and Zadar (both teams from Croatia) and between Crvena Zvezda (team from Serbia) and Olimpija (Slovenian team).

The Super Cup is taking place in Laktaši (a town in the Republika Srpska), where Igokea is hosting the eight best teams from the previous season of the regional league. Even though the team from Bosnia had home court advantage, that didn’t help in the game against the only EuroLeague squad from the ABA League (Budućnost).

The Match between Partizan and Mornar opened the tournament, and in the first game the Black and Whites celebrated, all thanks to their team play. Even though this was the best game that the team from Belgrade played in this pre-season, their coach Nenad Čanak isn’t still satisfied with the form of his players.

“They still need to improve much in order to be competitive in the upcoming season”, according to Partizan head coach.

Đorđe Gagić (C) had an amazing role in his team’s triumph. He scored 23 points, while Vanja Marinković (SG) added 16. Jock Landale (C) finished the match with 15.

In Mornar, Khadeen Carrington (PG) was the best scorer, with 20 points. His teammate Uroš Luković (C), who was absent during the biggest part of the preparation period due to his obligations with the national team of Serbia, scored 12 points with 9 rebounds. Nemanja Vranješ (SG) added 11 and two players scored 10 points each one: Marin Mornar (PF) and the American forward Winston Shepard.

The second game was very interesting because Budućnost managed to score the victory in the last minutes of the match. It was an equal game during the long period, but at the end the team from Podgorica (the capital city of Montenegro) celebrated and became the second semi-finalist. The final score was 90 – 86, as said before.

Nemanja Gordić (PG) from Budućnost scored most points for his team (19), while Nikola Ivanović (G) and Earl Clark (PF) added 15 points each one. The last player from the Montenegrin team with double-digit score was Aleksa Ilić (PF). He ended the game with 14 points.

Tomislav Zubčić (PF – C), from Igokea, scored 21 points with 6 rebounds. Still, that wasn’t enough for his team to celebrate in front of their own crowd. His teammate Orlando Johnson (SG from USA) finished the match with 18 points and Sava Lešić (PF) added 12 points.

The first semi-final game (between Partizan and Budućnost) is on schedule on Saturday, September 22nd, at 18:00 in Laktaši.
