@FIBAWC: Serbia closer to China, important win against Greece (@FIBA)

The National team of Serbia won 84 – 61 against Greece in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” Sports Hall (also known as Pionir), in Belgrade. It was the first defeat for Hellas in these Qualifiers. Before the game, Greece had already Qualified for China due to its 9 Victories. On the other side, if Serbia wants to participate at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, Đorđević’s squad needs to win one of the two remaining games in these Qualifiers: against Estonia or Israel. Those games will be played in February. Stefan Jović was the top scorer with 22 points for Sebia. The Point guard from Munich also had 4 assists and 3 steals but 7 turnovers. At the practice before the trip to Israel, the Serbian coach, Aleksandar Đođrević, announced that Rade Zagorac, Stefan Pot, Aleksa Radanov and Dejan Kravić won’t be travelling to Tel Aviv to play against Israel in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers. In the November qualification window, the Serbian team will play two games. The First one against Israel, in Tel Aviv, and the second one against Greece, in Belgrade. As it was predicted, there are no players from the EuroLeague. The head coach of the Serbian national team, Aleksandar Đorđević, announced the preliminary squad for the fourth qualification window for the World Cup 2019 in China and 24 names are on the list. The Serbian men team will play against Greece (September 13th) and Estonia (September 16th) in this window. The match against Greece will be played in Iraklion (Crete) and the one against Estonia, in Belgrade. Among the 24 players there are players from EuroLeague teams and from NBA teams, so if they accept the invitation, it will be a great opportunity for basketball lovers to see the best Serbian players on the court. Serbia won 81 – 82 against Austria in a dramatic game of the second window of the qualification tournament for World Cup 2019 in China. Hero of the victory was Aleksa Avramović, who made three points shot 19 seconds before the end of the game. It wasn’t an easy win for Serbia, but Aleksandar Đorđević’s team scored third victory after four games, and stayed at second place in the group G, behind Germany. Serbia played it’s second WC qualification game in Belgrade, 2 days ago, on November 27th. Georgia and Tskitizhvili opened the gane with 2 points shot and closed the first quarter with the lead. Serbian player Ilija Djokovic made three points shot little less than 1 minute before the end of the quarter for the even 21. In the second quarter Serbia were leading till four minutes before the end, when Georgia first got really lost on the court and then took the lead, all thanks to Dixon’s three in a row three points shots.
