Serbia won 81 – 82 against Austria in a dramatic game of the second window of the qualification tournament for World Cup 2019 in China. Hero of the victory was Aleksa Avramović, who made three points shot 19 seconds before the end of the game. It wasn’t an easy win for Serbia, but Aleksandar Đorđević’s team scored third victory after four games, and stayed at second place in the group G, behind Germany. The team has two more games in this round, both during the summer. First will be against Georgia in Tbilisi and second in Belgrade against the leader of the group, the German team. Even though it wasn’t an easy win, but win is a win, so now the Serbian squad can prepare for the upcoming games. In the first game of the second window for World Cup 2019 that will take place in China, the Serbian team lost against Germany in Frankfurt with a result of 79 – 74. With this victory Germany became leader of the group G, while Aleksandar Đorđević’s team is on the second position. But there is still three games left. First is already on Sunday, when Serbia will face Austria in Vienna. And the second two, again against Germany and against Georgia will be on schedule during summer. Serbian national team has travelled to Frankfurt where they are going to play the game against Germany today, 23rd February, in the second window of qualification for World Cup 2019 that will take place in China. This match is going to be the most important game for Aleksandar Đorđević’s team in this round. Both team has two victories and after the game, the leader of the group G will be known. Head coach of Serbian national team Aleksandar Đorđević announced preliminary squad for the second window of World Cup Qualifications. In February, Serbian men senior basketball team will play two games of the second window in the qualifications for World Cup that will take place in China in 2019. First rival of Đorđević’s squad will be Germany and second one, Austria. “Eagles” will gathered on February 19th in hotel “Crown Plaza” in Belgrade, and they are going to practice in the capital of Serbia till February 22nd, when the flight for Frankfurt is booked. Serbia played it’s second WC qualification game in Belgrade, 2 days ago, on November 27th. Georgia and Tskitizhvili opened the gane with 2 points shot and closed the first quarter with the lead. Serbian player Ilija Djokovic made three points shot little less than 1 minute before the end of the quarter for the even 21. In the second quarter Serbia were leading till four minutes before the end, when Georgia first got really lost on the court and then took the lead, all thanks to Dixon’s three in a row three points shots. Also, at the end of the quarter Dixon made two points for a final result of 44 – 45 for Georgia. Serbia scored their second win in World Cup Qualification Tournament after beating Georgia 105 – 87 at home court.
