In the last match of the Aba League Round 7, Partizan Nis will host their greatest rival, Red Star, in “Aleksandar Nikolić” Hall.
The clash of the big rivals will happen today, November 6th, and a duel between this two teams is one of the biggest basketball derbies in the whole world. Similar derby can be also seen in Greece between Panatinaikos and Olympiacos, and here in Serbia between two Belgrade’s teams.
Both teams have the same overall score (4 wins and 2 losses) in regional league. While the hosts are also playing in the EuroCup, red and whites are playing in the best European club competition, the EuroLeague. But noone of this facts have any meaning when Partizan and Red Star are playing against each other. It is always a game with special meaning, no matter if they are playing for the tittle or another round in competition.
This time, black and whites are hosts so the whole gym will cheer for them. And that is something that may bring them a significant advantage in the clash against their eternal rivals. But, Red Star have EuroLeague experience in this tough court games so maybe they won’t have any problem facing such a hot atmosphere, where all the spectators will cheer against them.
Looking back in the past in ABA League, Partizan has advantage because black and whites won in 19 and lost in 14 games, and as hosts they won 11 and lost in 7 matches.
In the focus will be duel between Partizan’s player Nigel Williams-Goss and Taylor Rochestie from Red Star. Williams-Goss is the best assistant in the league till now, and in the past 6 rounds Rochestie earned top scorer tittle with 20 points per game.
Also, both teams have players who know and who played in this derbies in the past, but in Partizan and in Red Star are new faces and this game will be totally new experience for them.
