Germany goes to the next round of the FIBA World Cup 2019 in China qualifiers from the 1st position in the group G, as they, again, managed to take a win against Serbia (81 – 88). The fact is that Serbia, although they lost, played very well during the whole game. Serbia was constantly up, at one moment they even had +9 points, but the Germans managed to melt down the difference during the second half. Comparing to a very focused start, when the team of Aleksandar Djordjevic was leaving it all on the court, they just couldn’t find their play in the 3rd and the last 4th quarter, what made the space for the excellent Germans to react, wake up, and show their own, very good skills. Serbia won 81 – 82 against Austria in a dramatic game of the second window of the qualification tournament for World Cup 2019 in China. Hero of the victory was Aleksa Avramović, who made three points shot 19 seconds before the end of the game. It wasn’t an easy win for Serbia, but Aleksandar Đorđević’s team scored third victory after four games, and stayed at second place in the group G, behind Germany. The team has two more games in this round, both during the summer. First will be against Georgia in Tbilisi and second in Belgrade against the leader of the group, the German team. Serbia without EuroLeague’s players against Germany and Austria

Head coach of Serbian national team Aleksandar Đorđević announced preliminary squad for the second window of World Cup Qualifications. In February, Serbian men senior basketball team will play two games of the second window in the qualifications for World Cup that will take place in China in 2019. First rival of Đorđević’s squad will be Germany and second one, Austria. “Eagles” will gathered on February 19th in hotel “Crown Plaza” in Belgrade, and they are going to practice in the capital of Serbia till February 22nd, when the flight for Frankfurt is booked. The day after that one (23rd) Serbian squad will play game against German national team, and match will take place in the same city.
