Partizan Nis continued with good games in ABA League, and this time the team won 74 – 90 against Cibona in Zagreb.
This was the 4th victory in six rounds for black and whites in regional league, while Cibona has score 3 – 3. New Partizan player Samardo Samuels showed in the first game that he will be one of the leaders in coach Miroslav Nikolić’s team.
Samuels finished the game with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while best scorer was Nigel Williams-Goss who added 20 points. Vanja Marinković added 19 and Mihajlo Andrić finished the match with 14 points.
Two players scored 20 points each for Cibona – veteran Luka Žorić and Jahmar Young but that wasn’t enough for their team to celebrate in front of the home crowd. Marin Rozić added 12 points.
Game started very slowly for both teams but then Žorić took everything in his own hands and helped Cibona to take the lead 10 – 7, but after Andrić scored two three points shots and after first quarter the score was 16 – 17 for Partizan.
Black and whites continued to play aggressively in the second quarter like they did in the last part of the first quarter and trio Marinković, Andrić and Samuels were helping their team to have in one moment 10 points lead.
Team from Belgrade played the best defence from the beginning of the season during first half because they allowed Cibona to score only 33 points while they had 43.
Third quarter was the key quarter because Partizan had 18 points lead and it was the maximum lead in the game, and the last quarter could be something else but home team didn’t use their chance. In the first five minutes Partizan missed everything, didn’t score any point, but Cibona didn’t scored much ether due to good defence black and whites played but also they missed some opened shots.
First points in that quarter were scored by Williams-Goss for the result 59 – 70 and Cibona didn’t have a chance to turn the score around so Nikolić’s squad celebrated in the end.
