Turk Telekom won 77 – 72 against Partizan in the Round 5 of the Group C in the EuroCup. This was the fourth loss for the Serbian team, while the squad from Ankara have 2 wins and 3 losses.
After the first five rounds, the Turkish team is on the fourth place, while the Black and Whites are on the fifth in the Group C.
The key moment in the game was the first quarter, the only part of the game where Turk Telekom was better than Partizan. That part finished with 14 points difference (28 – 14) for the Turkish team. In the other 3 quarters, the Black and Whites got back in the game, but that wasn’t enough effort to completely turn the match around and win. In the second quarter of the game, the score was 18 – 18, in the third, 16 – 20 for the guests, and in the last quarter, 15 – 20 for the squad from Belgrade.
The best player on the court was, definitely, Vanja Marinković (Partizan guard), with 28 points and 5 assists, but his teammates didn’t have the strength enough to help him. The only other player with double-digit score in the Black and Whites team was Marcus Page (G) with 14 points.
For the Turks, the American forward Kenny Gabriel scored 16 points with 6 rebounds. TJ Campbell (G) finished the game with 13, while two other players scored 12 points: Sylven Landesberg (F) and the Serbian centre Vladimir Štimac.
In this game, due the resignation of ex Partizan coach Nenad Čanak, the head coach position was given to Aleksandar Matović. He is the assistant coach of the first team and the head coach role was temporary, especially because Partizan is going to ink Andrea Trinchieri. Everyone is still waiting for the official confirmation from the club, but on the twitter account of the Italian coach is now Partizan coat of arms as a profile picture.
