@FIBAWC: Estonia surprised Serbia, “winner takes it all” against Israel in Belgrade

0

The Serbian basketball squad didn’t use their chance in Tallinn to qualify for the World Cup in China because they lost against Estonia with a score of 71 – 70. The Match against Israel on Sunday from 16:00 h. in Belgrade will be crucial for Aleksandar Đorđević’s squad. In Tallinn, the Serbian team was leading during three quarters and at the first minute of the last quarter the score was 49 – 57 (+8) for the guests. But then, the home team woke up and got closer. Đorđević’s squad helped the hosts with a lousy defense and postponed the decision about the last participant of the World Cup 2019 from the Group L (Greece and Germany already qualified). The Estonian squad scored four (from a total of 9) three pointers in the last quarter. That was the punishment for the guests because they didn’t used the given chance to lead

@FIBAWC: Serbia with Teodosić against Estonia and Israel (@FIBA)

In the last FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers window, Serbia will face Estonia in Tallinn and Israel in Belgrade. The Serbian squad needs only one win (or, maybe, noone) in order to become one of the participants in the World Cup 2019 that will take place in China, and the first match point will be against Estonia. Aleksandar Đorđević decided which 12 players will play in the first game and one of them is Miloš Teodosić, who recently (on February 7, 2019, just 14 days ago) was waived by the Clippers. Besides Miloš, the other 11 players who will play in Estonia are: Ilija Đoković (Borac Čačak), Milenko Tepić (PAOK), Dragan Milosavljević (Málaga), Aleksa Avramović (Varese), Ivan Paunić (free agent), Marko Simonović (Zenit), Stefan Birčević (Bonn), Stevan Jelovac (Bamberg), Miroslav Raduljica (Jiangsu Dragons), Nikola Jovanović (Trento) and Đorđe Gagić (Partizan). Maybe Nikola Milutinov and Vasilije Micić will help

@ABA_League: @PartizanBC 76 – 67 @KKBuducnostVOLI (Landale, MVP)

In the ABA League Round 18, Partizan won 76 – 67 against Budućnost in a packed Aleksandar Nikolić Sports Hall (also known as Pionir). With this win the Black and Whites have the same number of victories as Budućnost, but with a scoring advantage (in the first matchup, the team from Podgorica won 75 – 71). Andrea Trinchieri’s squad were controlling the game from the first till the last second. The Guests were trying to get closer but the home team rejected their attacks. They showed a very mature game, like they have years of experience in playing such important matches. Also, the hosts were playing without two important players who skipped the game due to injuries. Rade Zagorac and Aleksej Nikolić set this match and their teammates responded excellently. Budućnost was complete from the beginning of the match but Goga Bitadze, the best center of the team, was injured

In the ABA League round 19, Partizan is hosting Budućnost (the only squad from the regional league that is playing in the EuroLeague) in the Aleksandar Nikolić Sports Hall (also known as Pionir). The Montenegrin team is now the only squad that is playing in Europe from the ABA League due to the fact that the three teams from Jadran (Adriatic coast), Crvena Zvezda, Cedevita and Partizan, lost their chances in the EuroCup after the Top 16. But in the best European club competition not all rounds are finished and after the 22nd round Budućnost has 6 victories and 16 defeats. The Squad from Podgorica (the capital city of Montenegro) won against Baskonia in the round 7 (99 – 84), CSKA in the round 9 (93 – 92), Barcelona in the round 11 (67 – 64), Darussafaka in the round 18 (75 – 74), Madrid in the round 19 (73

In the ABA League round 18, Partizan won 59 – 83 (+24) against Cibona in the Dražen Petrović Basketball Hall (Košarkaški centar Dražen Petrović or Dvorana Dražen Petrović), in Zagreb. Without a lot of problems, the Black and Whites managed to score the 6th win in a raw in the regional league, the eighth victory in the last nine rounds and the 7th in a raw against Cibona. And this was also one of the most dominating wins of Partizan against the “Wolves” (famous known as “Vukovi” in the Serbian and Croatian languages), right behind the “top” victory in the 2010-2011 season when the score was 85 – 55 (+30) for the Serbian squad. Now the team from Belgrade has 12 – 6 (victories – defeats) in the league, and the next weekend they will face Budućnost, the present champion of the ABA League. On the other hand, Cibona now

In Zagreb, in the Dražen Petrović Basketball Hall (Košarkaški centar Dražen Petrović or Dvorana Dražen Petrović), Cibona is hosting Partizan in the ABA League Round 18. The First matchup between these two well-known rivals in this season belonged to Partizan (86 – 67) and it took place in Pionir (also known as Aleksandar Nikolić Sports Hall), in the Round 7. Looking back in the history of the regional league, these two squads face each other 36 times and the game in Croatia will be the 37th. And in 10 matches the host was better, while Partizan won in the other 26 games and the most important were two Finals. The First one was in the season 2008-2009, when Partizan was the host and the score of that match was 63 – 49 for the Black and Whites. In the next season, 2009-2010, Cibona was the home squad, but the outcome

A Full Pionir said goodbye to the @EuroCup (@PartizanBC, Parakhouski, MVP)

In the EuroCup Top 16 Round 5, Partizan lost 77 – 78 against Rytas Vilnius in a crowded Aleksandar Nikolić Sports Hall (also known as Pionir). It was a “do or go home” game for both squads, and the Black and Whites were the one who will say goodbye to the European competition, and the team from Lithuania still have a chance to be part of the best 8 clubs in the EuroCup. So, in the next round Rytas will face Monaco in another “to be or not to be” match. The Winner will go forward, and the loser, home. The hero of the match was Artsiom Parakhouski who hit for two in the last seconds. But before those points, Rytas squad missed the shot and while jumping for the ball, lack of communication happened between Partizan players and they sent the ball out. So, the guests had another chance
