Serbian Team has Started the Preparations

July 20th was reserved for Serbian national basketball team gathering, at Belgrade Hotel Zira.

The head coah, Aleksandar Djordjevic, has already cut off some names from the previos list, so the final 17 invited players are:

Marko Guduric (Fenerbahce), Branko Lazic (Crvena zvezda), Marko Simonovic (Khimki), Ognjen Kuzmic (Crvena zvezda), Stefan Jovic (Munich), Stefan Birčevic (Istanbul BB), Milos Teodosic (LA Clipers), Vladimir Lucic (Munich), Bogdan Bogdanovic (Sacramento Kings), Nikola Kalinic (Fenerbahce), Vladimir Stimac (Besiktas), Miroslav Raduljica, Milan Macvan (Munich), Dragan Milosavljevic (Málaga), Nemanja Nedovic (Málaga), Vasilije Micic (Zalgiris) and Boban Marjanović (Detroit Pistons).

The only one missing first day was Milan Macvan, who is currently in Munich and will join the team in few days, right after medical checks due to his upcoming signing by Munich.

Djordjevic expresed his apreciation to all the staff and players for showing up first day.

‘We know each other very well, so as what we have to do in order to accomplish our ambitious goal, because that is what this team and this generation of players deserves. Although we don’t have enought time for preparations, I’m sure that all the players had time to relax and get in mood. Some of them still suffering injuries, but, I believe in few days, we will be all ready.’

The preparation schedule has already been set up: the team is heading to Kopaonik, traditional camp base, and is expecting to play their first friendly game in Kraljevo on August 2nd against University team Serbia.

Training Camp continues back in Belgrade

Serbia will have a chance to size up with the teams of Greece and neighbour Montenegro during Belgrade Trophy tournament, mid-August, and again in Germany with teams of Russia, Poland and host Germany.

The last challenge before EuroBasket, Djordjevic’s team will take at Acropolis tournament in Athens OAKA (Italy, Georgia and Greece).

Serbia will be attending Acropolis tournament long eight years after the last and unhappy appearance due to a fight between Greek and Serbian players.

As the potentially opponent, Djordjevic stressed out Spain, amazing team of experienced so as very talented young players. But he didn’t miss the chance to also point out Croatia, Latvia and Greece as very capable teams, always amazing France and, of course, hosting team of Turkey, that has never missed the opportunity of winning the medal in front of their amazing fans.

Serbia will be playing First round of European Cup in Istanbul, with Russia, Latvia, Great Britain, Belgium and the host, Turkey.
