Crvena Zvezda, managed for the first time in the Euroleague, to win against Olympiacos with a score of 89 – 78, and celebrated in the full “Aleksandar Nikolic” hall in Belgrade.

This was an important win for Red and Whites and crowd was more happier because it was also the first victory of their team over Olympiacos.

Greek team had a lot of pressure before the game in Belgrade due to three losses in a row, and now against Crvena Zvezda their had their fourth loss.

Player of the match was Dylan Ennis, with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. His total index rating was 31. Taylor Rochestie and Nemanja Dangubic added 11 points each, and those three players were the only ones with double digits score.

Vassilis Spanoulis, with 16 points, was the best scorer in the team from Greece, but he missed some shots in the important moments of the match. Brian Roberts added 14, while Kostas Papanikolaou finished the match with 12.

Both teams started very motivated, but guests from Greece were better and after first three minutes they were leading by 4 (6 – 10). But soon, Crvena Zvezda got back in the game and took the lead. Home team had 5 points lead (15 – 10). Till the end of the quarter Dusan Alepijevic’s team managed to save the lead. The result at the end was 24 – 20.

At the beginning of the second quarter Zvezda showed good defense on the court and for three minutes allowed Olympiacos to score only three points, while they added 9. Home team was dominating in every aspects of the game during this part of the match and guests only had 34 points while Zvezda had 43 points.

After the first half Dylan Ennis from Zvezda scored 9 points, while two players had 8, Vassilis Spanoulis from Olympiacos and Taylor Rochestie from Crvena Zvezda.

During the third quarter roles were different, coach of Crvena Zvezda, Dusan Alimpijevic, was ejected from the game and team had to continue without him. Guests used that situation and got very close. After four minutes in the second quarter result was 47 – 46 for Red and Whites. But home players didn’t back down and managed to score six points in a row for another significant lead. But this time, they had Olympiacos on their tail, guests were chasing the lead from the start of the third quarter. Finally, they accomplished their goal and at the end of the quarter team from Piraues was leading by 6 (57 – 63).

Fourth quarter was really tense. Crvena Zvezda managed to get back in the game during first four minutes and it was one ball game from that moment. Even though, head coach couldn’t be near the bench he gave instructions from the tunnel, where he had to be till the end. But during the fourth quarter, Red and Whites managed to take the lead and 45 seconds till the end home team were leading by 10, and it was only a matter what result would be at the end, and final score was 89 – 78 for Red and Whites.
