Fourth window is getting closer, Đorđević announced preliminary squad (@FIBAWC)

The head coach of the Serbian national team, Aleksandar Đorđević, announced the preliminary squad for the fourth qualification window for the World Cup 2019 in China and 24 names are on the list. The Serbian men team will play against Greece (September 13th) and Estonia (September 16th) in this window. The match against Greece will be played in Iraklion (Crete) and the one against Estonia, in Belgrade. Among the 24 players there are players from EuroLeague teams and from NBA teams, so if they accept the invitation, it will be a great opportunity for basketball lovers to see the best Serbian players on the court. The preparation process for the games against Greece and Estonia will start on September 2nd in Belgrade, where the team will stay until the trip to Crete. Budućnost Voli won 77 – 73 against Crvena Zvezda Mts in the fourth and final game, and for the first time in the club history won the title of the ABA League. So, in the next season, if everything goes as planned, the team from Podgorica will play the EuroLeague. The great season in the regional league was finished in the best possible way for the Montenegrin team, and in total they won 5 and lost only 1 game against the Red and Whites. This time, like it was in the third game, in a dramatic finish players from Budućnost were more focused and at the end they deserved this victory and title. Before the last game, it was tense off the court because the president of Crvena Zvezda Nebojiša Čović announced that his team won’t participate in the fourth game due to, as he said, bad treatment by referees.

In the second game of the ABA League Final Playoff, Crvena Zvezda Mts won against Budućnost Voli with a score of 69 – 59 and secure the game 4 in this Final Playoff. The teams from Serbia and Montenegro will move from Belgrade to Podgorica where they will continue fighting for the trophy and the spot in the next season EuroLeague. After Budućnost VOLI made a break in the first game, Zvezda have managed to bounce back in the second Game after one more dramatic finish and now the two teams start the Final Playoff all over again, as if nothing happened, only this time the crowd will be on Budućnost’s side. Not long ago, Serbian national team won silver medal at EuroBasket 2017, and now the team has to be ready for new challenge, World Cup qualification tournament. In order to accomplish the goal, and that is booking ticket for China, to participate in World Cup 2019, Serbian head coach Aleksandar Đorđević announced preliminary squad. There is no surprise that in this list won’t be players who play in NBA league, Miloš Teodosić, Nikola Jokić, Boban Marjanović, Nemanja Bjelica and Bogdan Bogdanović, but in their absence, coach called some young guys and also players from EuroLeague who played on previous tournament held in Turkey.
